How long does a TAO to BTC exchange take?
After you start, you have about 5 minutes to send. Once your TAO arrives, most transactions finish within a few minutes. Confirmations on each chain set the pace: about a minute for TAO on Bittensor and about 20 minutes for BTC on Bitcoin.
What is the minimum amount of TAO I can exchange?
The minimum and maximum depend on how much is available at the posted exchange rate, so they change through the day. This page shows the current limits, and the API returns them as minFromAmount and maxFromAmount.
Do I need an account?
You can check the exchange rate without one. To start a transaction you sign in with Google, GitHub or an anonymous access key: no password, and no wallet sign-up. Each transaction uses one credit, and eligible new accounts start with free credits.
Do I receive real BTC?
Yes. BTC arrives as the native asset on Bitcoin, in the wallet you choose: nothing is wrapped, and no one holds your funds in between.
What happens if a transaction fails?
If it stops before you send, nothing moves and your credit comes back. If the other side does not deliver after you send, you are paid 110% of the transaction's value from the locked funds, in SOL or TAO, at your address. Make sure the receiving wallet can accept BTC before you start.
Can I get the TAO to BTC exchange rate from the API?
Yes. GET https://api-allways.venturalabs.ai/v1/rate?from=tao&to=btc&amount=0.5 returns the current exchange rate and limits with no key. Starting a transaction through the API needs an API key, which you create after signing in.
